Friends of the St. Clairsville Public Library

The Friends of the St. Clairsville Public Library is a service organization formed in 1964 for the purpose of strengthening the public library in the community. Their mission is to foster relations between the library and the community, giving public awareness to the good facilities already available. They also aim to promote and improve the function, resources, services and needs of the library.

Starting as a small, dues-paying organization, the Friends of the Library has grown and changed through the years, but has never lost sight of its founding purpose: to support and raise funds for the St. Clairsville Public Library.

The Friends currently sponsor several library activities, including teen programming and the Summer Reading Program.  The Friends also host at least one Book Sale and a major fund-raising event each year. The funds generated from the Friends group are used to support the library with a variety of projects: from program supplies to library furnishings.
